Update on Robinson State Park, Agawam, MA.
The new DCR commissioner came ONSITE and viewed our concerns,
and reviewed a large notebook full of science and documents on the
features at Robinson that need to be left alone! He then assigned
the new
DCR public affairs person to review it as well. She came on site
with the
State Forester, and reviewed it as well.
End result:
There will be NO timber sale at Robinson State Park.
There will be an "Emergency Management" project undertaken
to
address the issues with the red pine plantations, and a couple of
misc. hazardous trees that exist near the park borders and
residences ONLY!
NO harvesting will be done for the purpose of selling or cost
recovery.
A wealth of science was brought to bear to demonstrate the true
needs
of the park.
This rare piece of urban forest is safe, at least for now.
For those of you who were somehow involved in the controversy
at Robinson State Park in Agawam, MA, including Bob, Gary, Lee, and
others
too numerous for my old mind to remember, THANK YOU!
