ENTS,
This is a time of increasing connectivity to each other
through the internet. Today I responded to another invitation
to create a space on Facebook. I also revisited my MySpace page
for the first time in over a year. I am a member of a couple of
Ning social groups, most important to ENTS is that I started the
group Primal Forests - Ancient Trees http://primalforests.ning.com/
on Ning as an additional or alternative meeting place for those
interested in trees, but perhaps not as interested in
measurement. I am wondering how all of you view these internet
communities? Do many of you belong to one or more of them - I
know you all belong to the ENTS Google Group
http://groups.google.com/group/entstrees?hl=en or you would
not be getting this message. How can any of this be used to
further to goals and ideals of ENTS?
These are my addresses on the various services if you want to
contact me, add me or to check them out. I invite everyone to
consider joking Primal Forests. I know that you must belong to
Facebook and MySpace to view those profiles.

Google Earth for example has a new program whereby groups can
enter onto a world map locations that link to photo albums,
videos and the like. We could use the feature to create an
interactive map of the research ENTS is doing. http://earth.google.com/
We would need to buy the full blown software or make do with the
limited version. (There is a grant program through which ENTS
could apply for a free copy of the full program)

What other resources can we use to better move ENTS more
fully into the internet age? Please send in your ideas and
comments.
