Sawara
False-Cypress
BVP,
Ed and Mike,
Now that I am familiar with C. pisifera they seem to be turning
up
everywhere. Bob, you have given me conifer fever, and I can't
drive straight
anywhere- I am always looking high up for conifer crowns!
(What's new?)
The biggest CHPI I have located in AVL so far are:
5'10" x 71.1' x 28' in Biltmore Forest (7 Stuyvescent Road)
=148 points
6'4" x 78.3' x 28' in Black Mountain (East Cotton Ave.)=
161 points
7'3" x 75.7' x 35' in West Asheville (Carrier St.)= 172
points SSSWEEEETTTT
tree!
There is also a nice one on Baird Street in AVL but I am sure it
is smaller
than the "top three" above. What awesome trees!
Also a nice (new NC Champ?) Rocky Mountain Douglas-fir in
Biltmore Forest
at:
7'2" x 107' x 28' (336 Vanderbilt Road)= 200 points
And a gorgeous Virginia pine on Sunset Drive, AVL at:
6'9" x 101' x 39'= 192 points
BVP, you're right-- PINACEAE (AND OTHER CONIFER FAMILIES)
RULES!!!
Will
