Bob,
Very interesting! I will get to check out the Black Hills in early
September this year, if my plans hold.
I wonder how the Crazy Horse monument is coming along?
An area up there which has always held great fascination for me is
the
Badlands. That terrain really looks awesome. Have you spent much
time
in the Badlands?

Gary,
Yes, the White River Badlands were one of my haunts when I lived in
South Dakota. The Badlands extended onto the old Ellsworth AFB bomb
range. I used to comb Sheep Table Mountain for fossils. The region
was home to a prehistoric camel and bones could be found. I mostly
looked for signs of Indian artifacts. The Sioux stampeded bison of
the side of Sheep Table Mountain and on occasion their bones could
be found where they had been covered by mud from flash floods.

Bob,
When in AFJROTC in high school I read and studied much about the
history of Strategic Air Command and its awesome capabilities. I
have
always been quite facinated with aircraft and seriously considered
joining the Air Force after high school. I would like to visit the
Black Hills. Exploring the geology of that area would be great!

James,
The Black Hills have a distinct appeal that is uniquely their own. I
suppose that could be said of any place that a person likes, but
there's more to it than that. The role that the Hills have played in
Native American culture is indicative of their special character.
I'll get to cranking on the next episode in a few days and cover as
much of the Black Hills magic as I can. Getting my aging memory to
cooperate is my biggest challenge.

Bob,
I eagerly await the next episodes. Your memory seems pretty sharp.
It
has to be to do all of those formulas you do.
