Russ: : I have measured CBH on several trees on the Island. I have
not
been over there since I aquired a Range Finder last fall. I actually
wanted to check out if any Big Elms survived. Did not record any but
some of what I kept a recorded included:
180" Black Walnut
260" Sycamore - (Double stem)
175" Sycamore
120" Hackberry
75" Black Locust
It is easy to access the Island from the Belpre, Ohio side via
canoe
or kayak - just be careful of barge traffic and high winds.

Turner:
I recently had a long visit with the historian at Blennerhasset
Island Park
and I might get a chance to visit the place later this year. If I do
I plan
on taking them some black Cohosh for landscaping. I have never been
there
before so I would expect to be looking at some of the largest trees
when I do
get there....I'll be sure to take along my diameter tape but in my
work all I
use for height measurements is a clinometer...cheap to own, simple
to operate
but easy to generate "measurements" that are far too
inaccurate for ENTS
standards.
