Will,
Unfortunately I will not be able to make it to Cook Forest. I
had
previously planned a camping trip for that weekend. The camping
trip is
to the Ramsey's Draft area in western Virginia. I hope to get a
chance
to check out some old growth hemlocks that grow in the draft and
see if
any are still alive.

Steve Krichbaum of Virginians for Wilderness
once alerted me to very
tall white pines perhaps 3 miles up the draft. I didn't go that
far up
the draft.

Bob,
I'll keep my eyes open for tall(and fat) white pines, hemlocks,
and
probably some hardwoods too. From a previous trip I remember old
growth(not tall) oaks on the ridgetops. I most likely won't get
a
chance to do too much measuring as the trip is primarily for
photography
purposes, but I will try to measure at least a few. I hope
everyone has
a great time at Cook Forest. I'll toast a beer to ENTS while
camping.
