Here is a photo of the National Champion Q. laurifolia in Congaree National
Park that Jess Riddle found. Sorry, no leaf photos. The oak ID in question
does not strike me as laurel oak either. I may do a search later for “red
oaks with entire leaves”. That is Jess Riddle (blue) and Marcus Houtchings
(NPS) in the photos from February 2006.
