I'm going to visit Arcadia Management Area in Rhode Island on
Friday:
http://www.riparks.com/arcadia.htm
I've been looking at Google Maps:

and have identified some areas with
potentially good-sized white pine (look at the area just north of
Frosty
Hollow Pond using the satellite view option).
Have any ENTS done measurements in Arcadia? Comments on what to
expect? Thanks,
-Andrew

Andrew,
I've visited Rhode Island on a dozen occasions to study forests and
measure individual trees. Other than short, fat urban trees, I've
never had any luck in terms of finding trees equivalent to what I
have come to expect in Massachusetts. I would guess that pines in
the 10-foot circumference and 120-foot height range grow somewhere
in Rhode Island. Maybe Arcadia is the place. I'm looking forward to
your report.
Bob
