ENTS,
On 10/14/08 I had the opportunity after a meeting to spend a
little time
looking for tall tree records at a Sizerville State Park, in
Emporium, PA.

A park map can be downloaded here:

A quick drive through the center of the park scanning for
trees yielded
nothing really worth measuring. I decided to head up the main
park road
heading due east up East Branch Crowley Run to see if by chance
something
might catch my eye worth measuring. Turns out there were some
decent height
Am. hornbeam there for the taking. The tallest documented was
at 1.7ft CBH
x 46.5ft high (41 36.455N x 78 8.996W. A new PA height record.
Possibly a
new NE height record as well, but we have very few in the
database. Still,
we're finding very few in the 40ft class here in PA. Also
measured an apple
tree growing near by to 5.8ft (at 3.5ft up) x 45.9ft high.
