ENTS,
On May 24, 2009, as part of a "Living History Weekend" at Cook
Forest State Park, PA, Dale Luthringer, Environmental Education
Specialist at the park, gave a presentation on old time lumbering
operations in the area. Dale dressed in period garb and discussed
the history of the the logging operations in that part of
Pennsylvania and demonstrated many of the hand tools used by loggers
of the time. The presentation lasted about 90 minutes and I
videotaped it. I have edited down that presentation to a total of
about 55 minutes that capture the main content of Dale's
presentation. I have posted this program on YouTube under our (my)
nativetreesociety channel. Since the length of videos allowed on
the server using a free membership is limited to 10 minutes, I have
broken the presentation down into six individual clips of just under
ten minutes each. These can all be viewed on YouTube. Now you all
can have a chance to see our intrepid Dale Luthringer in action.
They are entitled "Old Time Lumbering Demonstration (1 of 6)
through (6 of 6)." The addresses for the individual clips
sequentially are:

I encourage people to watch these clips and to learn something
more about this time period in our history. Also this posting will
be a surprise for Dale, hopefully a pleasant one.
