I need to go back and check the leaves of the Devils-walkingstick to confirm
if it's Aralia spinosa or Aralia elata.  Most of the food plain species are
not very impressive due to the fact that a sewer line runs along the bank of
the river and most of these trees were cleared for it's installation.  In
most places there is less than 30' between the cliffs and the river bank.

The bark on these birch trees is a silver-gray
color and look like yellow birch to me.  I've attached three photos of the
birch in question.  If I was incorrect in identifying this tree I apologize
and corrections will have to be made on the above locations RI's.

Birch (sp.)

There are some larger trees in there, just not as tall as the ones I listed.  The fatter species would be the tulip poplars and the oaks.  A good number of the poplars are in the 8’to 11’ range while the oaks ranged between 7’ to 10’.  Attached are some pictures of the 12x100 sycamore I took back in September of 08’ and a 4x chestnut oak that measures 18’2” x 96.8 x 73 in March of 09’.  By the way that is a beautiful oak you found.  I love those fat forest grown trees.

Sycamore 12 x 100
Chestnut Oak (4 trunks)
