Big urban Northern Red Oak, Lorain, Ohio   Steve Galehouse

Some big trees are where one least expects them. Here are a couple of
photos of a 19'cbh Red Oak in Lorain, Ohio, just a quarter mile from the
downtown area. The tree has an approximate spread of 85' and height of
90'. The house (not shown) on the lot dates from 1898. The building
practices from that era seem to have less of an impact on existing
trees, and there are a number of other large trees in this neighborhood.
