ENTS-
Today measured a nice big umbrella magnolia(*Magnolia tripetala*)
located in
Amherst, Ohio, in front of Good Shepherd Baptist Church on Cleveland
Ave.
Umbrella magnolias are native to southern Ohio, this one obviously
planted
as a landscape specimen. Height 36.7', CBH 4'4'', average spread
42'---shorter than the current state record, but greater than the
state
record in CBH and crown spread. Immediately next to the magnolia was
an old
*Euonymus alatus*(Burning-bush) with a 26' spread.
