Shagbark Hickory, Pine Barrens, NJ June 22, 2009

ENTS
Here are the Shagbark Hickory trees I found last Friday. They are the first and only Shagbark Hickory trees I've seen in the Pine Barrens. That species isn't supposed to exist here.
There was one tree that must have a CBH of 5.5 to 6 feet or more. Across the dirt road from it there were several more, a little bit smaller. One of the pictures shows the tops of some of those ones. I took the pictures when the batter indicator was blinking on the camera, and that was the second battery of the day, so I was lucky to get the pictures.
