Here are the Shagbark Hickory trees I found last Friday. They are
the first and only Shagbark Hickory trees I've seen in the Pine
Barrens. That species isn't supposed to exist here.
There was one tree that must have a CBH of 5.5 to 6 feet or more.
Across the dirt road from it there were several more, a little bit
smaller. One of the pictures shows the tops of some of those ones. I
took the pictures when the batter indicator was blinking on the
camera, and that was the second battery of the day, so I was lucky
to get the pictures.
