ENTS,
I returned to the Bryant homestate today to measure two more of the
largest pines. The first pine measues 12 feet in circumference and
reaches 125.0 feet in height. I reticled the pine at a couple of key
spots and computed a surprisingly low 518 cubic feet. It is all in
the taper.
A second pine measures 11.9 feet in circumference and reaches to
140.4 feet. The second pine retains considerable volume aloft and
cubes out to a respectible 698 cubic feet.
The list of Bryant big trees grows as the following summary shows.
Tree cir hgt vol
Big Boy 13.4 135.3 805
Pine #2 11.9 140.4 698
Pine #3 12.0 125.0 518
The list of single stem white pines that reach a circumference of 12
feet is short, but has been lengthened by one courtesy of Pine #3. I
would guess that Pine #2 will join the list with 2 to 3 years.
